This was a 16 over warm up match for the under 13s against our friends and neighbours Bletchingdon. It was a great game but Bletchingdon had a little too much for us this time. The number of runs scored off the bat was actually very similar, but Bletchingdon gave away fewer no-balls, byes and wides - something for us to work on in training.
Kidlington won the toss and decided to bowl first. Wickets were hard to come by despite some tight bowling. The two wickets that came were both via confident catches from Sam Fransham at first slip off the bowling of Neil Talmaki and Jacob Evans, tempting the batsmen into nicking. Jermaine Buckingham and Sam both bowled very economically, each ending with an economy rate of 2.0. Despite this, two of Bletchingdon's batsmen settled in and retired - S. Fiddy (20*) and L Jordan (21*).
Bletchingdon bowled very tight making it difficult to score quickly. Neil Talmaki (20*) and Daniel Hunt (9) did an excellent job of opening the batting though, keeping Bletchingdon wicketless for a long period. Although the subsequent batsman did a great job including Aaryan Jagnani (7), the run rate kept going up and up. This prompted some required running for dangerous singles, meaning that five of our batsmen were run out. It was a good effort but we couldn't get up to Bletchingdon's score.
A really good warm up game to start the season. Many thanks to Sam Kimber and Mo Talmaki for scoring.
