There was a fantastic end to the 8 a side league at Stratfield Brake as KCC U13s won a very close game in the last over. Kidlington won the toss and put Banbury in to bat. The visitors batted really well and posted a big score of 305 for the loss of only two wickets, Thomas Owen and Joshua Behal the only bowlers to get a wicket.
KCC set off in pursuit carefully knowing that they could not afford to lose many wickets. Every KCC batsman played his part in accumulating runs and protecting their wicket against some good bowling. Thomas Owen pushed up the run rate with a magnificent innings of 23n.o. including 5x4s with some lovely off drives. Kamran built on this with 4x4s of his own in a powerful innings of 24 but got out just when the game looked settled. Another wicket fell and this put Banbury back in pole position. However KCC never gave up and the in-form Ben Hague came in last to play a great innings of careful singles and a couple of big hits to steer his team home for a magnificent win against a strong team. This secures the 8 a side league for us so well done to all who played in this league this year and we look forward to the finals day next week.
