No answers to the power of the opposition

On a muggy afternoon and with players pulling out at the last minute, we managed to get 10 players to take on top of the table Stonesfield.

The Key to this match would be to win the toss and bat on the best looking “Road” I have seen for a long time which had runs all the way in it, and sure enough stand in Skipper Moss LOST the toss and we were fielding!

Opening the bowling was Oscar Hewitt who bowled well at times but just a bit too short and on this wicket the only place that ball was going was the boundary, Josh Behal was excellent with the ball with Yorker Length deliveries and had a great game with Baju also bowling well, but as a team we bowled too short and with us missing Key bowlers in the game who can bowl line and length we were to struggle

Our fielding also needs to improve, we missed what should have been 5 easy catches, but also must mention the excellent catch by Josh Swadling at long on taking a running catch,

Stuart Moss (Stonesfield Skipper) was in great form hitting the ball all over the park for his 88 until John Moss managed to juggle and hold on to the catch, and Jordon Newman with a big hitting 93 before being bowled they were the big difference, but Stonesfield were on top form ending up on 258-5 from 40 overs,

The highlight for us after the 40 overs was the superb tea which was laid on, which was very welcomed.

Now to the batting, opening up with Raz (28), who only had one thing on his mind to get all the runs quickly, but after some mighty blows he tried one too many, Josh Behal (20) played very well and sensibly before being bowled, Jake Townsend (33) and John Moss (23 not out) gave a glimmer of hope but once Jake was out we had little batting left,

It was a very enjoyable game against strong opponents, I suspect they will not be in Div 7N next season playing like this, they are bringing some good youth through the ranks at Stonesfield which is great to see, I had the pleasure of facing Rowan Moss for a few overs and he has some great potential, along with our very own Josh Behal.
