Rain was order of play at the brake Saturday with overcast and gloomy conditions constant for much of the afternoon. Rain was forecast from around 4 o'clock onwards so time was against both sides.
Captain Hambridge won the toss and elected to field first on a wet and sticky wicket. Hoping for early wickets in the first innings and an explosive run rate in the second to stand a chance of getting the win via DLS.
However, Bletchingdon's opening batsmen started well before Chris Graham got the breakthrough, M Abid caught at mid on by Hambridge. Kev Crawford opening up with Chris, was the most economical bowler on the day, finishing on 26 runs off his 9 overs but without a wicket. Hambridge then replaced Chris and trapped the other opening batsmen LBW. J Asplet, Bletchingdon's number 3, rode his luck after being dropped 3/4 times by Kidlington before finally falling to Jed Launchbury. Jed went on to take 3 wickets, supported by Tipper and Tony taking 2 a piece as well as a superb direct hit by Siva for a run out. Some poor fielding from Kidlington and steady batting from the opposition saw Bletchingdon finish on 169 from 42 overs.
Kidlington turned things around quickly, aiming to get at least 20 overs in to get a DLS result before the rain. Razwan and Hambridge opened proceedings and got off to a steady start. Good bowling from Bletchingdon's Sanjay and Amosh meant Kidlington found it difficult to rack up runs. Razwan fell to Sanjay and then J Clarke fell to a good ball from Amosh. Hambridge still occupied the crease and finished on an unbeaten 26*. Akash also looked good finishing on 6* (7). However, Kidlington's umpire Anish Kanchan called a stop to play after just 12 overs with Kidlington on 52/2. Unable to come back on as the rain persisted, the captains shook hands at 5 o'clock.
With Cropredy's game also being abandoned, Kidlington secured the league title with a game to go.
