friendly inter club match

so firstly I need to amend the score card where it stated Tait that should read Stuart Moss and Desmond should read Rowan Moss (best figures both these guys will have with bat and ball for KCC no doubt this year anyway :) )

So with the hardest part of cricket out of the way late Friday evening (that's getting players for those of you who don't know the trauma involved ..to get 22 players involved texting 60+ members + numerous calls to non members trying desperately to get 11 a side .. hopefully things will improve from next week when the league starts :)) Oliver won the toss and decided that with the beautiful weather and tremendous looking track at the brake that batting was the only option.

Oliver opened up with Jeacock and set about a nice first wicket partnership of 97 thanks in the main to Oliver being dropped for 1 in the third over. Jeacock (45)was the aggressor of the two and took the challenge to the bowlers but that came to an end from a great catch from Lauren Smith, Oliver fell just after drinks for 51, Stuart Moss who was helping make up the numbers representing Stonesfield looked assured at the wicket and never looked in any trouble playing nice shots and eventually retired on 29 , various other wickets fell and the side closed on 236. pick of the bowlers being the youth with Oscar ,Ben and Lauren all doing really well

Edd opened up his team innings with Smith and walker looking to put on a good show in chasing down the target. Oliver opened with Desilva and both Smith and walker both punished anything that wasn't well bowled and raced to 100 without loss inside 13 overs , Jeacock made the breakthrough dismissing walker (59) and Tippett in the same over and we were back in the race!!
or were we ? no is the simple answer as all the batsmen made it look easy with Smith retiring for 57 and Lauren and Saj both making good contributions. but on such a good wicket 236 was always going to be hard to defend and Edd and Kev saw the side home with 10 overs to spare , Edd finishing on 44 and kev on 17

a great game with loads of young talent on show which can only mean good things for the future of the club.. we just need some commitment from current members and we will be in an amazing place :)
