Friendly mixed II x 2

Abingdon won the toss and unsurprisingly elected to bat on what looked like a 200+ wicket , the weather was ideal for the time of year and it was Tippett and Litten who opened up for KCC , both bowled extremely well with MT taking three wickets for 39 and SL bowling a tight spell for 33. the Abingdon batsmen never really got going and wickets fell at regular intervals. Lazenbury and kalyan came on first change and kept things extremely tight PL 1 for 15 from his 8 overs and SK 1 for 13 from his 5 , Saj, Hewitt, launchbury and Oliver bowled the remainder of the overs with Abingdon throwing the bat and no one going for more than six an over saw them close on 176 for 7, a great all round fielding performance from KCC . we will ignore the dropped catches as everyone gave 100% and I couldn't have asked for anything more :)
a nice tea was had by all and KCC set about chasing down the target , with debutant Lazenbury opening up with our future start Sahil. unfortunately things didn't start according to plan and we lost Sahil in the third over to a fine ball from captain Darley for 1. This bought Oliver to join lazenbury at the crease and lazenbury showed his class taking on any loose bowling and quickly raced to 50 before Oliver had even reached double figures. unfortunately the introduction of Jenkinson (3 for 19) saw the demise of this partnership (78) with lazenbury for the first time miss timed one and holed out to mid wicket.
Oliver was then joined by Rodway who had a nice partnership of 32 before oliver once again fell victim to jenkinson . Pratt joined Rodway for a few balls only to leave a straight one and see his castle tumble behind him for the only duck of the game. Rodway had two further small partnerships with Hewitt and launchbury with KCC edging ever closer to securing the victory, unfortunately sam fell to a fine slip catch by A Premkumar and things started to get a little edgy , so with 4 overs to go and still requiring a few runs Raz decided he was going to do some range hitting and see how many cars he could hit (fortunately he only hit his own) with two great sixes . putting KCC firmly back in the driving seat. with the final over leaving KCC needing 3 to win, captain Darley took the responsibility to bowl the final over which thanks to a lovely cover drive from Saj only lasted one ball.

great unexpected win for KCC and played in exactly the right spirit , thanks to AVCC for hosting and lets hope the weather allows the same next year , and again thanks to the 11 that made themselves available lets have a great season
