A winning start for the u11s

This was the under 11s first game of the season, and what a game it was to start with. It is always difficult to know how the first game of the season - and many players first ever game - will go. I was very proud of our players who seemed to be right on their game from the first ball, and all enjoyed themselves. It was particularly good to see how well our players communicated with each other whilst batting - some really loud shouts from Matthew Collett and Kumayl Hussain, in particular. Morgan Jeacock, George Burns and Jack McGrath all batted very well, Jack drawing admiration from the opposition umpire with a fine cover drive. Kaden Sinclair would have hit the ball out of the ground if he'd connected with a few of his shots! Jack Gaskell took the quick singles option, running very well with his partner Morgan.

The game was very tight at the end, with just a few runs in it. Freeland were just ahead until Luca van der Linden got a wicket with his second to last ball, clean bowling Freeland's player Max. With Logan unable to score from the last ball, it turned out to be just enough for Kidlington to win the game. It was a great end to a very enjoyable game.

Freeland had some great players too who played in a fantastic spirit, including Logan who top scored with 13. Our player of the match for Freeland was Carys who bowled very well, taking two wickets for just two runs.

Freeland chose as their player of the match Luca van der Linden, who as well as winning the match with his last over wicket, took two other wickets and top scored with 7 runs.
