U13’s Crumble to the mighty Banbury!
Master Class on show by the Banbury boys.
It was a winner takes all game, KCC top by 4 points going into the game unbeaten all season knowing a win would get them through to the finals but a loss would mean we were out as Banbury had a game in hand and you get 2 points even if they were to lose the game next week, so how did it all go so wrong!
We knew this game was going to be hard, although losing Ned Pratt and Alfred Blackburn a couple of days before the game was not ideal but we have a strong squad and anything was possible.
With Banbury batting first it was a master class of how good they really are, Churchill (15) Smert (30 no) Dyble (31 no), Gerber (24) posting a total of 147 for 6 from 20 overs, we actually bowled really well but they played well with the bat and to be honest it is something we need to aim for at KCC as it was a pleasure to watch some of their shots, the only disappointing part from KCC was that we really did not wake up for 15 overs and were poor in the field, although young Sam Fransham (U11) was pick of the bowlers with 4-0-27-2 and a couple of good catches from Kalyan and Earp.
Now to our Batting, to be honest the Banbury bowling is probably as good as the batting as well! they took apart our top order with ease when we tried to play shots, and we only got to our total of 54 from 17 overs when young Aman Kalyan (13 not out) came in at number 9 and showed me he deserved to be up the order with some lovely shots, but with 20 of the 54 in extra’s it was poor.
Beaten by the better side but I am so proud of our squad this year, all team players and it has been a pleasure to work with them all, that is probably our last match of the season but training continues every week and if we want to be as good as Banbury I need you all to turn up!
