U13s maintain unbeaten run

Another excellent team performance from our U13s at Stratfield Brake ensured a good win to put them joint top of the league with Banbury. Nicholas Owen won the toss and elected to bowl first on a cold and windy evening.
Bicester brought a stronger side than we faced earlier this season and started well in their innings with a fine knock by Harvey Hughes. KCC kept their discipline and never allowed the batsmen to get totally on top. Regular wickets from Sam Kimber (3-0-8-2) and Toby Earp (3-0-10-2) kept the score down and KCC applied good pressure through tight bowling and fielding in the last five overs to restrict Bicester to 80/5 off 20 overs after being 60/3 off 14.
KCC replied with a steady start despite an early wicket. Rhys Merriman and Nick Owen (30n.o.) put on 23 for the second wicket in good time. Nick was joined by Ben Sternberg (26n.o.) with a new bat and he put it to good use. It was the best partnership I have seen this season from any of our youth teams. Both batsmen played with great composure and confidence in working the ball around the ground. What could have been a tricky chase was transformed into a stroll as they cruised past the target in only 13 overs.
