A superb performance by captain Nicholas Owen was not enough to save KCC U13s from defeat at Cropredy in the cup. Nicholas and Alfred Blackburn opened the batting and got KCC off to a strong start scoring 48 before Alfred was out for a well played 21. Nicholas pushed on to retire on 30 but after this the KCC fell away and finished on 78 off 20 overs. The Cropredy bowlers bowled well on a difficult pitch and It was a below par score for KCC but still a competitive total if we performed to our normal standard.
Cropredy were given a good start by some unusually wayward bowling from KCC but the game was still in the balance up to the 19 over thanks to an excellent bowling performance from Nicholas Owen who ended with 3/8 off 4 overs and Lauren Smith bowled with great accuracy and control to return figures of 0/6 off 4 overs. KCC gave away 34 extras and this allowed the Cropredy batsmen to stay patient and let their star batsman Owen Noonan gather the required runs in a fine knock of 25 not out. A good effort from everyone, especially Sam Kimber who volunteered to go behind the stumps and suffered an injury, hope he recovers soon. Lets get back on track tonight!
