On a day where this game would normally have been cancelled at lunch time due to the weather, it was looking good as Hook Norton had missed all the rain so far and the game was on.
Captain Stervid lost the toss and as we thought they put us into bat, but what was to come was a master class from some of our guys, Blackburn (7) was first to go which brought the Owen Brothers together, Thomas Owen (30 Retired) Nicholas Owen (22) hit some glorious shots, these guys do not have a swing they play with pure class and it is a pleasure to have them at Kidlington CC, once Nicholas was out that brought Stervid (27 not out) to the crease and he was not going to be outclassed by the Owen's, after his usual difficult first over he bullied the bowlers all over the park hitting some power shots you would normally see in senior cricket.
Once Thomas Owen retired that brought Smith (4) to the crease with only 3 overs to go, and unselfishly had a go at getting some quick runs, and then McErlain (0 not out) coming in for the final few balls to get us to another top score of 108 for 3 from 20 overs.
This should then have been a formality to win the game in my opinion with a massive bowling attack of Owen's, Medlicott, Hewitt, Oliver, Pratt and to be honest everybody else who can bowl
But it was not to be as the heavens opened, flooded the ground and that was it, onto the next game as this is going to be one of those seasons!
Well played everybody a very proud manager again.
