KCC U13s win a close game at Combe

Another win for Kidlington under 13s in the league but they were made to work hard for this one.
Combe won the toss and chose to bat on a sloping pitch with a huge boundary. Kidlington ripped through the Combe top order with Jack Launchbury opening the bowling and taking 4 wickets in 4 overs including a double wicket maiden! Kamran Ramzan at the other end was bowling well and unlucky not to get more than one wicket as he continually beat the batsmen. He managed to clean bowl one of the main Combe batsmen and at 15/5 it looked like it could be an early night for everyone. However the Combe middle order batsmen dug in and built a decent partnership to post a reasonable but still under par total of 71 off 20 overs. A great effort from all KCC bowlers including Leon Dines on debut.
Kidlington set about the target in confident mood but the Combe opening bowler Josh was in fine form and got Kamran out to an edge behind and put some nerves into the KCC batsmen. Ben and Lauren looked solid as they set about seeing off the openers and almost got there before Ben was bowled. Lauren held things together with firstly Alec, who looked in good form, and then Harry Brock on debut. This was the key part of the match, KCC edged along playing sensibly and even when Lauren was caught they continued to build their score through Jack and Harry as they scored freely and ran well together. Just when victory seemed assured Combe came roaring back with 3 quick wickets through Connor but Jack held firm and struck the winning runs. A great win and super performance by Harry Brock on debut.
