KCC go down fighting at Oxford
A brave performance with both bat and ball from a weakened KCC U13s side was not quite enough against a full strength Oxford XI.
KCC took the field with only nine players including an U11 due to some late call offs but the spirit shown was fantastic and they pushed Oxford all the way.
Marshall Taylor and Sahil Kaylan were the pick of the bowlers with figures of 1/9 off 4 overs for Sahil and Marshall taking 2/14 off 4 overs including a double wicket maiden! Both were well supported by the ever reliable Matthew Staveley-Taylor behind the stumps.
Our batsmen were solid against accurate bowling but always behind the required run rate. However Harry Whitehead gave us all some hope when he took on the Oxford attack, hitting 6 x 4s in his unbeaten 31. Despite this fine effort we fell short of the target of 104 but managed to bat out the full 20 overs.
