At Stratfield Brake on Wednesday KCC U13s had the chance to progress to the finals day of the Gauntlett Goblet 8 a side league but unfortunately could not overcome a determined Stonesfield side.
KCC fought hard and bowled well to restrict the visitors to only 49 runs off 16 overs after wicket deductions. Marshall Taylor was the pick of the bowlers and took yet another catch.
The KCC batsmen made a good start to their innings, Sahil and Ajay looking very composed against good bowling. However as the innings progressed, Stonesfield managed to pick up wickets regularly and peg back the KCC score. KCC never really threatened the total until the final pair of Harry and Marshall blasted 40 runs off their four overs but again wickets fell and this ensured victory for Stonesfield by 45 runs. So even though KCC outscored their opponents by 84 to 81 they were defeated by wickets lost, 8 runs being deducted for each wicket to fall. Despite the disappointing result it was a good effort from our players and they should feel proud of their performance in this competition.
