KCC U13s cruise to victory against Oxford

This was the first of our Gauntlett Goblet league matches; these are 8 a side games with players batting in pairs for 4 overs. Oxford won the toss and put us in to bat, after a slow but steady start from Ajay and Matthew we reached 17 for the loss of only one wicket in the first 4 overs. Fraser and Joseph put on 20 runs and Josh and Josef added 10 runs but accurate bowling with regular wickets by Oxford in these overs really pegged us back. KCC got back on track with the last pair of Saul and Marshall adding 29 runs without loss to take the score to 246, Marshall Taylor top scoring with 15 n.o. including a superb straight six!
In reply Oxford made a good start to reach 14 without loss after 4 overs but some fine fielding and bowling saw Kidlington take control and cruise to victory by 31 runs, Saul Samuel taking 2 for 2 and Josef Hewitt 2 wickets for 5 runs with Marshall Taylor holding two catches.
