I am happy to report on a hard earned victory for Kidlington U13s at Banbury in the Ron Maudsley Trophy.
Kidlington Captain Marshall Taylor won the toss and elected to bowl on a good pitch. Banbury batted well but were restricted to 113/3 by some fine accurate bowling and an excellent team effort in the field.
The Kidlington openers, Matthew and Tommy, replied with an impressive batting display in a brisk partnership of 42 runs off 6 overs. Banbury fought back well to make it a close finish and managed to take the match to the last over, but some composed batting from Sahil and power hitting from Marshall saw Kidlington home with 4 balls to spare with the Kidlington captain scoring the winning runs with a boundary.
Banbury CC 113/3 (George Tate 30 & Finlay Lee 31, both retired; Marshall Taylor 1/15, Sahil Kaylan 1/15)
Kidlington CC 116/4 (Matthew Staveley-Taylor 28, Tommy Clark 26, Sahil Kaylan 25; Ben Church 2/15, Alex Badger 1/21)
