U15s hold nerve to win at Wolvercote
Jacob and Ned steer KCC home in close finish
KCC u15s got off to a winning start in the 11 a side league in a closely fought contest at St Edwards.
Wolvercote batted first and were soon in trouble as KCC bowlers dominated and took early wickets.
and Jacob Oliver
were a constant threat and deserved more reward for their efforts. Ned Pratt
bowled two perfect overs but was on the receiving end of a counter attack from Wolvercote as they rallied to set a target. Oscar Hewitt
picked a couple of wickets in a fine spell but was removed from the attack after a couple of high full tosses.
KCC were set 99 to win and got off to a positive start with Ben Sternberg
hitting an early boundary but he soon fell to one that kept low. Joshua Behal
set about chasing down the target and formed good partnerships with Sam Kimber and Josh Swadling
, the latter striking a superb six. When Josh Behal went for 26 it looked like there could be a difficult chase for KCC but Jacob Oliver
and Ned Pratt
made it look easy as they comfortably guided KCC home with a fine partnership.
