KCC 3s finally claimed their first win on the season after falling short on a number of occasions. The side had six youth players and every one of them contributed to a great win against Deddington at Stratfield Brake.
KCC won the toss and batted first but got off to a dreadful start losing the openers in the first couple of overs. Harry Brock brought some stability to the innings in a partnership with the captain but when both went with the score on 35 it looked like another bad day with the bat for KCC. However, the middle order took the game to the opposition and played positively to move the score along and get us back in the game. A good partnership from Josh Behal (15) and Baiju Saleem (38) gave KCC a decent platform to build on and when Jack Launchbury (49n.o.) was joined by Jed Launchbury (37) they carried on the momentum in a superb partnership which took KCC past 200 to set a daunting target for Deddington. Jack finished unbeaten with Jonah Clarke in an entertaining last couple of overs.
KCC started well with the ball giving the batsmen very few scoring opportunities. This created pressure and eventually the wickets started to fall with Jacob Oliver bowling a fine spell and picking up 4 wickets. Baiju again bowled well and the innings was finished off by Josh Behal and Jonah Clarke both picking up 2 wickets with Jonah getting 2 in 2 balls. A really good display for our 3rds and great to see so many youth players performing so well.
