Thanks mainly to John Moss putting the covers on overnight KCC III match starts on time. Unfortunately after dismissing Deddington II for 154 with some excellent bowling the match had to be abandoned due to rain, without 10 player KCC having an opportunity reply.
The highlight of the match was the superb bowling of 13 year old Thomas Owen making his senior debut for Kidlington with figures of 5 for 34. With regular cricket we can see young Thomas knocking on the door for 1st team selection in the not too distant future. Joseph Keighery too bold extremely well and his figurers of 23 for 1 would have been better if 4 catches were not dropped of his bowling. KCC fielding in general was below par from previous matches, the gloomy conditions and a slippery ball was the excuse :-). Having said that the enthusiasm of the fielders shone through. Lauren Smith, Garry Woods and Ran de Silva too bowled well.
Thanks to Oscar Hewitt appearing at very late notice KCC had 10 players in the field as the 3s lost 3 of their players to the 2s without much notice.
We must not forget to mention the superb tea provided by Lesley Woods ! - the greedy KCC captain devoured 3 slices of the lovely fruit cake ;-).
