A superb performance from Simon Hague secured a good win for Kidlington 3rds against Deddington.
KCC lost the toss but this proved a blessing in disguise as they batted in good conditions to rack up a challenging target of 202/5 off 45 overs before the rain arrived. Sahil Kalyan top scored with 42 and valuable contributions came from Erik Britton (36), Ajay Behal (37) & Paul Hewitt (38*) with youth players Kamran Ramzan and Josef Hewitt also making useful runs.
KCC took to the field after a superb tea provided by the Farrant family and quickly made a breakthough with the man of the match Simon Hague. He constantly troubled the batsmen with his away swing and occasional inswingers and was supported brilliantly by Sahil Kalyan behind the stumps who took 3 very good catches. Deddington fought hard to stay in the match but they couldn't cope with the accuracy and movement of Hague. The spin duo of Tony and Jeremy Launchbury helped to restrict the flow of runs with the latter getting the only wicket not to fall to Hague. Ajay Behal bowled 10 excellent overs and deserved to be rewarded with a at least one wicket as he continually beat the bat. Kamran Ramzan was also very unlucky not to be rewarded as he had the talented George Welch dropped.
In the end it was a comfortable win for Kidlington and a fantastic team effort in difficult weather conditions.
