With 8 Players

After a week of trying to put a side out with lots of phone calls on Friday night we managed to put together 8 players, 2 x U13, 1 x15, and the rest senior players of different standards!

Captain Moss loss the toss and we were put into field against what looked like very strong opposition, and they were but this was not about trying to win this game it was showing to the rest of the cricket world we have talent coming through and if we look after them we will prosper in years to come, and irrespective of how many players you have if you really want to play cricket you can.

So with the new ball given to Soul Samuel (U13- 10-0-60-0) and Kamran Ramzan (U13- 10-0-65-2) they both bowled very well in the 5 overs each they are allowed to bowl, and what a celebration was to be given to young Kamran on getting his 1st senior league wicket of Martin Dobson (15), Soul bowled well but just could not get the breakthrough required.

On came Ran De SIlva (12-0-68-0) and John Moss (12-0-53-1) for 7 overs each, as we had to make sure we bowled our young lads which was our main concern, with a cross wind which helped swing the ball for Moss he picked up the wicket of the local Vicar Rev Drew Treedy for (22), but the Captain for Stanton Souch (78) batted really well only to be bowled when Kamran came back on for his second spell, but that was the end of our success as Urquart (63 not out) Wastie (70 not out) took apart all of the bowling in some mighty blows which probably means they will not be seen in Division 10 for very long! but we stuck to our task and kept them to 270-3 which with 8 players is very respectable.

I could talk about all the dropped catches but that would be unfair on Paul Hewitt who was a magnet to the ball all day!

But we were all shattered after running around for 45 overs!, so the batting was a little disappointing after Skipper moss said lets bat the overs!

Hewitt (0) fell early to a good catch in the slips, but Mike Webb (14) and Ran de Silva (15) steadied the ship for a while until both went to great catches, but Moss went for a big hit to be bowled (1) Kamran (0) J Hewitt (0) Turner (0) but the star was our U13 Soul Samuel (7 not out) who showed how to play a straight bat and again was lovely to see him get his first league runs.

Overall Cricket was the winner for this game, Stanton were a strong side but the positives for KCC were amazing
