2's get scorched at the Brake!

On probably the hottest day of the year, stand in skipper Moss lost the Toss on what could only be described as a “Road of a wicket”, and Oxenford chose to Bat, what a surprise.

With little bowling in the attack it was down to 4 bowlers to complete the overs, Jed Launchbury tried everything from his 12 overs without success but with only conceding 45 runs this was pretty impressive, Baiju with his excitement kept us all on our toes with a couple of wickets,
Ajay playing his first game this year picking up a couple of wickets, and Jeacock doing the same at the other end,

We had a few half chances which did not go our way in the field, but the straight forward ones were taken which was very promising (Boyce with an impressive catch), therefore after being in the field for 45 overs we were quite happy to see them go in with on 229 on the board, after a big knock for Kempton (93 not out) being their key batsman.

Now let’s not talk about our teas or football and get on to the batting.

This was achievable if we batted sensibly, but we need to remember this is KCC. We have some big hitters in the 2s, but if they don’t come off then we can be bowled out very cheaply and unfortunately it was one of those days again, Raz was in his usual aggressive form with a quick fire 28, but with 5 ducks it was young Josh Swadling (11) who hung around and showed he is a talent in the making, We had a glimmer of hope with Moss and Jed Launchbury at the crease smashing the ball to all parts of the ground, but Moss (38) carrying a hamstring injury was only playing one way and 2s were not on the table!, Launchbury (28 not out) played a great innings but eventually ran out of partners which left us 94 short of what was not a big target on this track.

The 2s have a great team spirit as was an honour to skipper the side for the day
