Freeland won the toss on a baking hot day and had no hesitation in batting. Opener Mark Buckingham played a magnificent innings scoring 170, he gave a couple of chances but KCC could take them and paid the price as Freeland amassed 324 off 45 overs. Ran De Silva was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 wickets in a 12 over spell and Nick Jeacock picked up 4 wickets as he is cleaned up the lower order. Oscar Hewitt bowled well and was unlucky not to get the wicket of the opener.
After an excellent tea in the local pub KCC set about replying to the huge total and were soon in trouble with an early wicket. Nick Jeacock got some welcome runs but led a charmed life as he tried to maintain the run rate. After Nick went it was a steady decline and only Harry Brock offered any meaningful resistance, playing fluently for an entertaining 24.
A tough day for a depleted team but some positives to take forward for next week.
