kCC II V Swinbrook
bottom of the table clash
the chairman had spent many an hour at the ground this week ,but still the ground staff failed to mark a pitch correctly!!
Oliver lost the toss today and swinbrook elected to bat on what can only be described as a poor looking wicket!
launchbury and Oliver opened up the bowling and bowled superbly , the poor wicket was definitely making things easier for the home side and they did a great job of restricting the away side to 45 runs at the half way mark for 3 wickets.
however the skipper didnt tighten the noose and the away side managed to amass 171 thanks to some big hitting from the tailenders dadge and lord. launchbury was his usual economical self and the pic of the bowlers with 12-3-21-2
oliver and jeacock opened up, but things were never going to be easy with parker bowling so tight ,the first wicket fell in the 6th over with the score on 5 ,and things didnt improve for some time , brock snr also fell in the same over , and things were looking grim for the stiffs.
wickets were tumbling at regular intervals and kcc found themselves at 41 for 8 in 23 overs .. Talmaki and Oliver jnr then put together a great stand for the 8th wicket with a 59 run partnership with neither batter looking in any trouble.unfortunately that partnership came to an end in the 38th over with kcc now on 100 .. the eldest of the 3 launchburys now at the crease looked to increase the strike rate with Tony smashing Reed back over his head for kccs only 6 of the innings, unfortunately Mo's fantastic innings came to an end in the 41st over when he was caught for a fantastic 41.
unlucky lads a great effort in the field and we need to put together a few partnerships with the bat, but yet again a fantastic effort from all
