Stiffs didnt make runs as the sun shines

so after canvasing the team for opinions should he win the toss the skipper went against the grain and ignored the majority and elected to bat first on what looked like a reasonable deck.
Jonno and Jeaks opened up and KCC were immediately in trouble (tetsworth opening with a leg spinner which should be illegal in my opinion :))
jeaks Holed out to midwicket in the third over followed closely by the skipper 2 balls later having not troubled the scorer. Jonno was next to fall in the 5th over adjudged LBW shouldering arms outside the off stump!! .. things were not looking good .
this Bought Pratt and the young Brock to the crease and they looked to steady the ship and rebuild . pratt was the more aggressive of the two and struck some lovely shots to the boundary. Young Brock though looked in no trouble whatsoever and played with patience and maturity beyond his years. they did a grand job of rebuilding when unfortunately brock was bowled for 12 having been part of a 69 run partnership. Pratt didnt last much longer and was dismissed without a change in score with a fine knock of 44.. a flutter of ducks ensued and it looked likely that Hewitt was going to be left stranded at the other end on naught still .. Oliver Jnr got to the crease with Hewitt still on zero and the score on 82, between them they managed to add 10 runs before hewitt holed out to midwicket for 3 , leaving jacob without any partners for 4. defending 92 looked unlikely so we set about enjoying tea :)

Oliver snr and Jnr opened the bowling looking to strike early if they had any chance of victory. the skipper struck first in the third over and jacob again in the 6th but runs were coming too quickly despite our best efforts . Oliver mixed it about and bowled Hewitt , jeacock , and Pratt Jnr but we simply didnt have enough runs on the board to defend all of the bowlers did great .. the highlight of our fielding was Young Jonah capturing his maiden wicket for the stiffs with his first ever ball. a lovely straight ball which beat the batsman all end up .. despite our best efforts Tetsworth cruised home in the 21st over

onto next week where we have Oxenford in the cup :)
