KCC v Charlbury

on a lovely day at KCC ..charlbury had no hesitation to elect to bat once the toss was won.

Oliver gave an inspirational dressing room speech before taking the field and thankfully most of the players had left the changing room mid speech and missed the fateful words of Oliver announcing we have the strongest batting side on paper this season to date and our job was to contain.. CCC are second in the league having only lost to shrivenham so we knew this would be a tough match.

KCC openers launchbury and blackford couldn't have done any more and CCC struggled to get them off the square with the pair bowling 13 maidens between them with blackford bowling 9 of those .. both picked up wickets regularly in there spell with a few chances going begging along the way which you would never have known with Charlbury limping to 45 for 5 from 24 overs

a tough act to follow with things being so tight , but behal and de silva did a great job and again both kept things tight and again picked up wickets along the way , ran would have had a deserved three wickets but the skipper was still applauding JPs 50 over on the other pitch when he put down a sitter :( (sorry)

Charlbury closed on a meagre 129 for 9 from there 45 overs and we set about enjoying tea knowing that only half a job had been completed , were olivers words going to come back and haunt him

Kcc opened up with the usual Oliver and jeacock and things were going very well with runs coming relatively easily , Charlbury regularly changed bowlers and strived for that wicket which oliver nearly provided early doors lobbing one up only to be dropped at mid off .. jeacock was finding the boundaries with ease when oliver chopped on from from one of sintons leggies with kcc on 69 the foundations had been set..

however things were not to go as planned as jeacock fell soon after oliver with boyce not far behind,, kcc were now 81 for 3 in the 18th over and things were not getting any easier .. pratt followed shortly after having played a quick fire 15 , Blackford junior was then to find himself at the other end watching wickets fall for the next fe wovers with very few partnerships to write home about 14 being the next highest following the opening stand .. CCC were getting a sniff and could smell victory when Blackford Jnr was joined by De Silva with KCC needing 10 and CCC needing two wickets .. this game literally could have gone either way , for once it was KCC's day and Blackford Jnr clubbed a boundary to see us home in the 32nd over

well played guys but especially well done to the bowlers , a truly exceptional opening partnership from blackford and Launchbury won us the game backed up superbly by Behal and De Silva, pleasure to have been part of this victory well done all great game ..lets take this into the remaining weeks and lets finish the season on a high
