KCCII v Oxenford II

on what can only be described as a wet day KCC travelled up the Woodstock road with the hope of some cricket and if nothing else a decent tea... unfortunately only one of those things would materialise this afternoon ...

anyway 1315 arrived and the coin was tossed ..it was still raining so we didn't make it to the square ..up went the coin and heads were called ..the coin bounced into the flower bed and the opposing skipper took a quick look and picked the coin up before it could be looked at and said we will try again further from the flower bed !! anyway up again went the coin and heads was the call still and tails was the outcome .. oxenford elected to bowl should we ever get a game in

anyway what followed was plenty of foot tapping and rain watching ..with a little bit of weather forecasting thrown in to the mix

the umpires were keen to get a game in and set a deadline of 16:10 and a 25 over match should we get the chance and tea should be taken early.... this is where the day took a turn for the worst as what was placed in front of 24 paying cricketers was what can only be described as a joke 11 packed sandwiches to share a few biscuits and some crisps ..nowhere near £40 worth of food and very disappointing to say the least.

the rain was minimal so we trudged out to bat looking to work the ball around and amass a total that we could look to defend with our allotted 25 overs ..the wicket was wet to say the least and was marginally better than the tea.. bounce was uneven and unpredictable and runs were going to be hard to get.. wickets were lost at regular intervals and kcc looked in dire trouble 22 for 3 in 17 overs, however this bought together launchbury and townsend who put together the only real partnership of note with townsend being the main aggressor hitting some nice boundaries and a nice straight six . kcc ended on 86 for 5 from there 25 overs which we knew would be tough to defend.

kcc bowled well with launchbury being the pick of the bowlers only going for 19 in his 7 overs and picking up our only wicket of khan for 27, unfortunately we just didn't have enough to defend and oxenford got home in the 19th over

well stuck at lads , sorry about the tea as it was a shocker and probably the worst I have ever had ! and that's saying something ... we have no game for 2 weeks so lets see you all at nets and lets get back on it at home on the 12th against charlbury
