top of the league romp home

Oliver won the toss yet again and decided that although the conditions favoured the bowlers early doors that we would rather set and try and defend than be chasing leather all afternoon .. that was where our luck ended !

Oliver opened with jeacock and got off to a solid start with both batsmen looking to play shots , but scoring proved difficult with uneven bounce being the order of the innings ..
in the 17th over oliver played a straight drive back past the bowler (at least he thought he had) and immediately called for a single only to be surprised that Hammond had actually fielded the ball and launched it straight back to the keeper , oliver running himself out for 42, this bought debutant Boyce to the crease unfortunately it was short lived as he fell first victim to the spin of perera missing a full ball.
pratt and jeacock were now together at the crease and john decided to shoulder arms to the spin of Hayward and was dismayed to see his castle broken .. as history had shown the tail was well and truly wagging and kcc were now 90 for 3 and behal failed to trouble the scorer chipping his first ball up to short leg for a golden. Hewitt was next to fall for 3 having danced down the wicket to Hayward and forgetting to do the important thing of hitting the ball :)
jeacocks innings was next to come to and end with him holing out for a steady 41. launchbury was now with clark ..unfortunately the latter didn't trouble the scorer and missed a straight one ..
Launchbury then went on the offensive having a decent partnership with young ned pratt who did a grand job of playing a supporting role , launchbury eventually was dismissed for a quickfire 30 which included 3 big 6s , Ned and Jacob batted well for a few overs trying to see out the 45 overs whilst seeing off the returning openers , oliver hit a few nice shots and the boys did a great job of holding up the tail before ned was dismissed by carter, oliver jnr and blackford senior were the last pairing and managed a few more runs before oliver was dismissed in the 45th over for 7..kcc closing on a half decent 145

Oliver had high hopes that there was a little in the track for the bowlers and if we bowled the right areas we could make something happen ... unfortunately parera had different ideas and smashed Launchbury to all parts of the park , shriv ended the third over on 42 and kcc knew they were up against it ... losing a new ball in the third over was a particular low point :( ..launchbury has been olivers go to bowler and had not gone for more than 5 an over all season had unfortunately gone for over 15 an over in his 3 , blackford was the only bowler who managed to find his length along with behal , but unfortunately the damage was done and Shrivenham first team romped home before drinks with kcc picking up 3 wickets along the way ..in all honesty if we had set 300 I believe they may have chased them down ..it was one of those days to forget so lets do that and move onto next week :)
