new territory for the twos

Oliver didn't have great pre match preparation with having a night out the evening before a big game .. however hangover aside Oliver didn't hesitate when he won the toss and elected to bat on a sunny day at the lovely setting of east and wet hundred.

openers Oliver and Jeacock started slowly for once with the hundred bowlers proving difficult to get away, particularly young Hutt whose first seven overs only going for 17. jeacock increased the run rate with some well struck shots , and oliver joined the party by hitting his first six in a long ..long..long time . jeacock bought up his 50 in the 16th over but failed to go on being bowled by the slower than slow bowler peter baring.
Hewitt was unfortunately on the receiving end of an unplayable delivery and was bowled without troubling the scorers.
oliver was joined by pratt and had now reached his half century and had started to find the middle of his bat just as the taste of Jeagermeister started to fade.
pratt looked to dominate early on and struck some wonderful shots in his innings of 54, including 2 fine 6s . oliver was happy to play a supporting role , Oliver and pratt had a decent 100 run partnership when unfortunately jon mistimed a shot and was caught at gully,
oliver was joined by rodway who was looking to evade padding up to any more straight deliveries and this week decided to leave a straight one instead for 10.
oliver was joined by the youngest of the launchbury's and jack hit some nice shots including a great 6 and a 4 , by now we were in new territory and had passed the 38th over and passed the 220 mark at this stage also, jack was bowled for 13 and oliver was joined by Behal who looked to be positive from the off and also making oliver run a 3 .. kcc closed there innings 0n 258 with oliver batting through for 115 ..

after tea kcc looked to defend there total on a good batting track, launchbury and oliver jnr started off proceedings both finding a good length early , hundred had reached 36 from the first 10 overs but kcc hadn't looked like taking a wicket.
launchbury continued to bowl nice and tight and was unlucky to not get any wickets having had the opener put down at first slip.
clewley started to take the game to kcc and played some lovely shots all around the ground , jeacock finally got the breakthrough in the 31st over dismissing clewley for 70 with a sharp catch by pratt behind the stumps ..with a little bit of juggling in between
the other opener Richards was finally dismissed by behal for 88 and hundred needed 10 an over to be in with a chance.
hundred went on the attack and looked to go big, however young Jonah clark had other ideas and took two match winning catches in the deep and also chased everything down in the field putting on a fine debut for the twos.
young oliver was b owling the final over with hundred now needing 20 to win the match , he showed great maturity and held his nerve as kcc got over the line with a massive 4 runs to spare .

a great game which could have gone either way , great to see some young talent on both sides
