Another good effort

on a sunny day at the brake Oliver had no hesitation to elect to bat on what looked like another amazing batting track at KCC,
Tetsworth started with there usual casual approach to cricket with only having 8 on the field to start with and were joined by a few more throughout the day!
Oliver took advantage of the gaps in the field and got kcc off to a brisk start and were at 30 inside the first 4 overs when jeacock holed out trying to join the party for 1 , Oliver was joined at the crease by Hewitt who looked to play positively and was doing a lovely job of finding the gaps in the field to push the score along nicely, unfortunately Hewitt was adjudged LBW when the score was on 78 and had amassed a decent 24 runs in that time. This bought together the inform batsmen Pratt who looked to play attacking cricket from the off but unfortunately just as he was getting into his stride he mistimed a drive and was out to a very good catch for 17, Oliver was then joined by Rodway who was due some runs after padding up to a straight ball in his last game :) .. and they kept the scoreboard ticking over until Oliver decided to miss a straight one and was bowled for 57 with the score on 125 the captain was very disappointed that he didn't do his job and go on :( .. at this stage Oliver was fearful that the tail would wag early as it had done in previous weeks especially when J Launchbury was dismissed the following over having not troubled the scorer.
this though only put together the experienced Woods and Rodway who looked to dominate the bowling from the off hitting some lovely boundaries , unfortunately Rodway padded up to another straight one and ended the partnership being adjudged lbw for a decent 26.
woods continued with his onslaught being joined by the younger of the launchbury brothers, the score was continuing to rise and the captain had real hope that we may reach new territory .. also known as the 38th over. but unfortunately it was not to be as both woods and launchbury fell in quick succession launchbury for 9 and woods for a fine 32, unfortunately no further runs were added by the tail and we were all out for 190 in the 37th over so we have made progress and one day will bat all 45 :)

a good tea was enjoyed by all again and we then set about trying to defend what appeared to be a light total, by this stage Tetsworth had managed to make it to 11 players so were now holding all the trump cards . Kcc needed early wickets and to bowl tightly in order to have any chance . Young Oliver and the less young launchbury opened up and set about the task at hand , with the lightning quick outfield anything past the infield quickly raced to the boundary, it was Young Oliver who made the breakthrough with Pratt Snr taking a sharp catch to dismiss Abdul for 14 in the 8th over with tetsworth on 40. Oliver then picked up his second wicket with a lovely in swinging delivery to dismiss the left hander Isaac's who played all around it for 0.
Young Oliver was replaced by Old Oliver who unfortunately couldn't replicate his sons bowling and went for an expensive 36 from his 4 overs with Miller in particular taking a fancy to his bowling.
Oliver was replaced with Young Pratt from the far end whilst launchbury continued to work away at the other, he was rewarded in his 8th over when Miller hit a thunderous shot to Mid on which was taken (juggled) by old Oliver , Miller departed for a good nock of 45.
Pratt Bowled well for his 3 overs picking up the wicket of Ryan who was caught in the deep by Oliver , he was then replaced at the top end by Young Oliver who took his third wicket with his first ball having Gill caught by J launchbury .
T Launchbury was replaced by his younger Brother :) from the pavilion end and bowled nicely picking up two wickets in his 7 over spell for 25 .
unfortunately we just didn't have enough Runs on the board and Tetsworth Romped home with 3 wickets to spare in the 35th over, had we batted the full 45 I think this would have been a much closer contest .

overall a great game and thoroughly enjoyable to watch the youth thrive yet again ,sorry I didn't practice what I preached with the bat .. we will achieve the target one day im sure of it :)
