lovely weather for cricket!

from one extreme to the other over 7 days.... rain was forecast leading up to this game and thats the time they usually get the weather right :( ..
the skipper did his usual and lost the toss... with more rain forecast it was agreed a reduced match from the off was the best course of action so we took the field in light drizzle hoping to set a total in our 25 overs..
walker and behal opened up and we lost our first wicket in the 4th over with the score on 11 .. Willmot joined Behal at the crease looking to continue his good run of form but things were looking tough out in the middle .
Ed was next to fall in the 10th over with the score on 35.. Rodway now joined Behal at the crease and they looked to get the score board ticking over a bit quicker with Rodway scoring much more freely. running appeared to be hard going in the tough conditions with us being called 1 short on at least 3 occasions..Behal was next to fall in the 17th over for 20 runs with the score now on 75.. KCC at this stage with only 8 overs left were looking to post a well below par score .. Big Show was pushed up the order with a licence to play his shots.. having swung and missed his first 3 shots this could have proved a costly mistake .. however once his eye was in he started to at least make contact with the ball ..by now though both batsmen were on a mission to put the fielders under pressure and stole many 2s from overthrows or simply by putting the fielders under pressure .. we had crept up to 117 Rodway was finally out of luck being bowled for a very solid 52, with no score change Stothard was adjudged LBW padding up to a straight one , followed by Oliver being stumped first ball.. with 11 balls to go Bollig and Woods managed a run a ball off the final 11 deliveries leaving the home side a below par target of 128

Tea was taken, we knew we needed to take our chances and bowl well if we were to be in with a chance .. Ramzan and Graham opened up with Graham taking our first wicket with the score on 14.. both openers bowled out without taking any further wickets or either batsman giving any real chances .. Willmot and Oliver took over the bowling duties with Oliver finding it hard to find his lines having not bowled for a few weeks .. despite this he caused the only chance Top scorer Bishop gave who was dropped in the covers by Graham having at the time not scored many.. the net wicket fell with Willmot taking the wicket of Cripps emphatically caught at gully by the diving Rodway. Behal Replaced Oliver and immediately had the batsmen in trouble but as the common theme continued for the ones the inside edges missed the stumps on many occasions , Bishop was finally dismissed by Willmott having done the damage with a quickfire 41.. our final overs needed to be tight for us to even get close to defending our score , Redhead and Horne had alternative plans and took Rodway apart scoring 17 off his first over to complete the match in the 22nd over ..
we need to take the positives from the game we set up nicely for the longer format of the game and had we been playing a full match i believe we would have seen a very different result.. our bowling and fielding was great we just didnt have enough runs to defend which at the minute is a common theme
