warm day at the office

on near perfect cricket conditions the skipper had no hesitation once winning the toss electing to bat on what looked like a 250 plus track all day long!
Behal and Walker opened up and we got off to a poor start losing Behal with the score on 1 in the 2nd over. Oliver joined Walker at the crease both looking to spend some valuable time at the crease having spent the morning rushing back from holiday to be able to play.. the rebuild had started and we were going along relatively nicely with walker and Oliver both hitting a few boundaries however with the score on 32 in the 8th over walker chased a wide delivery and lobbed the miss timed shot up into the waiting hands of the point fielder .. Oliver followed the next over missing a straight one with the score unchanged.
Rodway and Wilmott now at the crease with both looking to play positive cricket but unfortunately things didnt last long and Rodway was dismissed with the score on 39 ....not the great start we were hoping for with us now being 4 down in the 11th over..
Launchbury Jnr and Wilmott now had the uphill struggle of rebuilding the innings, they managed to put on 66 before the fall of the next wicket with Jack dealing in boundaries for the majority of his contribution we are now 105 for 5. B&NN appeared to be struggling for bowlers but rather than KCC capitalising we mainly decided to give them some catching practice with Stothard, Ramzan and Graham barely troubling the scorers, Willmott eventually fell in the 33rd over having scored 64 with the score now on 142 leaving our final wicket pairing of, Launchbury Snr and Oliver Jnr , Both batted superbly putting on 38 in the final 6 overs with Tony hitting the only 2 sixes of our innings , tony finally fell on the last ball of the innings for 23 giving us a well below par score of 180 to defend.
tea was taken with zero complaints heard from either side :)
Kidlington knew they would need to bowl well and possibly need a little luck to go there way .. Ramzan opened from the top end and Launchbury Snr from the pavillion end both struggling to find their usual rhythm and both openers capitalising on anything wayward. the only chance coming in the fist 8 overs fell to the skipper who was fielding close in had the ball drilled in his direction, he managed to get a good hand on the ball but it just didnt stick.. and from then on only half chances were on the cards, with none of the bowling changes looking like making a breakthrough, the next full chance didnt come until the score was on 138 with opener walton skying a graham delivery into the hands of the waiting skipper for a well executed 96, could things now change? the very next ball the other opener mistimes a shot to point only for it to be shelled by the diving Ramzan ..things really wernt going our way but we did manage 2 get a further 2 wickets with the other opener tillock being stumped off the legs of walker and Parsons being bowled by Graham.. and although we managed to take the game into the last ball of the 38th over we just didnt have enough runs to ever make a game of it. the bowlers all did well and were unfortunately let down by some poor batting.. on to next week though lads lets put it behind us and start again next week
