On a hot sunny day at Stratfield Brake, Captain Richard Walker had no hesitations in opting to bat on a batsmens paradise!

KCC were intent on banishing the demons of last weeks poor display at Deddington CC, but when Britwell Salome CC removed Andy Oliver (4) early on, things didn't get off to the best start. Jack Desmond (pictured) joined Richard Walker at the crease and both set off in attack of the Britwell bowling as KCC raced to 50 from only 10 overs. Both batsmen batted sensibly and played straight with Desmond striking some beautifully timed drives down the ground as Walker hit anything short to the boundary! Walker (50) moved on to his half century but was out the next ball caught at mid off. Chris East joined Desmond in the middle and the pair accelerated the score well moving KCC past 100 in the 18th over as both batsmen began to set loose. Desmond brought up his half century with a superb cut shot through point as Kidlington were going along at more than 6 an over. East (30) struck a huge six through mid on before he holed out at mid on as Tom Bozman was the next batsman to join Desmond in the middle as carried on from the previous batsmen left off striking early boundaries. As the score moved past 180, Desmond (75) was eventually bowled as he tried to accelerate the score further in what was at times unbearable heat. Waseem Azad came to the crease and joined Bozman in scoring regular boundaries with a series orphan wristsy shots and one huge six through mid wicket. The score moved past 260 before Azad was finally out, bowled going for a big shot down the ground. Edd Willmot came to the middle looking to find some form with the bat and done exactly that playing some nice shots through the covers and point before Bozman (58) was finally caught after a top edge trying to pull a short ball to the boundary. Dan Farrant joined Willmot in the middle for the last 2 overs as the score moved past 300. Farrant hit a big six in the last over of Kidlingtons innings as he finished on 11* and Willmot 28* and KCC ended their innings on 320/6.

After a much needed drink and tea for both teams. KCC set about defending their score. Dan Farrant opened from the Pavillion End and atom Bozman from the Brake End. Both started well with good line and length as it was apparent that the Britwell openers had little intention of chasing the required runs. Bozman bowled a tight 3 overs before being replaced by the fired up Steve Litten, who took the first wicket after bowling the batsman through the gate. Farrant then took his first wicket with a near identical ball to Littens. With Britwell struggling on 25/2 from 8 overs, their task was not made any easier when Litten took his second wicket, this time hitting the top of offstump. Litten then took his third wicket as he again was too good and quick for the Britwell batsman, again seeing the ball smash into offstump. Farrant took his second wicket as he bowled a swinging yorker which was too good for the batsman. Farrant went on to take his 3rd wicket after a smart catch from Richard Walker behind the stumps after finding the batsmans edge. With Britwell on 80/6, Farrant was replaced by Chris Graham and Litten was taken off for Waseem Azad. Graham took a wicket with his first ball after a brilliant catch by Azad at gully. Azad bowled with good pace, but struggled with his line as the only two Britwell batsmen who looked to attack the bowling were now at the crease but with the game already lost. Azad was brought off for Chris East who took a wicket in his first over, having the batsman caught by Steve Litten at mid on. Graham took his second wicket with a brilliant yorker which was too good for the batsman and East wrapped up the Britwell innings, taking his second wicket as Britwell were all out for 145 p, as KCC secured a brilliant 175 run victory.
