KCC U17s played their fist league fixture on Tuesday at home to Oxford CC. On very hot evening it was difficult for both batting and bowling. Oxford fielded a handful of county players and their bowling was relentlessly accurate giving the KCC batsmen few opportunities for scoring. KCC opener Sahil Kalyan was the only batsman to look comfortable and establish any kind of dominance over the bowlers. His innings of 36n.o. held the innings together and at least gave a Oxford some sort of total to chase.
KCC bowlers set about defending the low total with some good bowling but the Oxford batsmen came out with a positive intent and scored freely from the first over. KCC created a couple of chances but couldn't take them and Oxford cruised home without loss after 12 overs. A difficult start to the U17s league but a fine innings from Sahil.
